class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Polish&nbsp;law&nbsp;allows&nbsp;foreigners&nbsp;to&nbsp;get&nbsp;married&nbsp;on the&nbsp;territory&nbsp;of Poland \u2014&nbsp;either&nbsp;to a&nbsp;Polish&nbsp;citizen&nbsp;or&nbsp;to&nbsp;another&nbsp;foreigner. The&nbsp;wedding&nbsp;may&nbsp;take&nbsp;place&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;Civil&nbsp;Registry Office (USC).&nbsp;However,&nbsp;compared&nbsp;to a&nbsp;marriage&nbsp;between&nbsp;two&nbsp;Polish&nbsp;citizens, in the&nbsp;case&nbsp;of a&nbsp;marriage&nbsp;between&nbsp;a&nbsp;Polish&nbsp;citizen&nbsp;and a&nbsp;foreigner,&nbsp;or&nbsp;between&nbsp;two&nbsp;foreigners,&nbsp;additional&nbsp;formalities&nbsp;and the&nbsp;submission&nbsp;of&nbsp;specific&nbsp;documents&nbsp;are&nbsp;required.&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;documents&nbsp;required&nbsp;to&nbsp;enter&nbsp;into&nbsp;marriage&nbsp;in Poland (this&nbsp;also&nbsp;applies&nbsp;to&nbsp;foreigners)&nbsp;are:&nbsp;<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>identity\u00a0documents\u00a0(passports\u00a0or\u00a0ID\u00a0cards);\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>proof of\u00a0payment\u00a0of the\u00a0administrative\u00a0fee;\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>documents\u00a0completed\u00a0during\u00a0the\u00a0meeting\u00a0at\u00a0the\u00a0office,\u00a0e.g., a\u00a0written\u00a0statement\u00a0confirming\u00a0that\u00a0there\u00a0are\u00a0no\u00a0circumstances\u00a0preventing\u00a0the\u00a0marriage.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, when a marriage is concluded between a foreigner and a Polish citizen or between two foreigners,&nbsp;additional&nbsp;documents relating to the foreigner or foreigners must be attached, including:&nbsp;<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>birth certificate together with a translation into Polish made by a sworn translator, if the certificate was issued in another country,\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>certificate of no\u00a0impediment\u00a0to marriage<\/strong>\u00a0                                                                                            It is worth noting that not every country issues such a document\u2014Ukraine, for example, is one of the countries that does not issue it. If it is not possible to obtain this certificate, it is possible to obtain an exemption from the obligation to present it\u00a0by\u00a0the court. To do so, an application must be\u00a0submitted\u00a0to the Family and Juvenile Division of the District Court with\u00a0jurisdiction\u00a0over the place of residence. The application must be accompanied by, among other things: confirmation of payment of the fee, the original birth certificate together with a translation into Polish by a sworn translator (if the document was drawn up in another language), a copy of your passport, a copy of your identity document and the birth certificate of the other party (fianc\u00e9e or fianc\u00e9) together with a translation, if required, a document confirming your marital status together with a translation (if required), if you are divorced or your spouse has died.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A detailed list of the required attachments and information&nbsp;regarding&nbsp;the court fee can be found on the website of the court competent for the applicant\u2019s place of&nbsp;residence, or&nbsp;obtained directly at the customer service office. A template of the application is&nbsp;usually available&nbsp;on the court\u2019s website or at its premises. If a ready-made form is not available, the application must be prepared independently. It should be remembered that the waiting time for the issuance of such a document may range from several weeks to even several months, which should be&nbsp;taken into account&nbsp;when planning the wedding date and arranging for the court exemption before&nbsp;submitting&nbsp;the application for marriage.&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If two foreigners are getting married, each of them must separately provide a certificate of no&nbsp;impediment&nbsp;to marriage or individually apply to the court for an exemption from the obligation to present this document.&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When planning to get married, it is advisable to contact the registry office competent for your place of residence well in advance to check whether your documents are complete and meet the specific requirements of that office. If neither of the future spouses speaks Polish, a person who can&nbsp;assist&nbsp;with translation should be present during the consultation&nbsp;regarding&nbsp;the documents and procedure. At this stage, it is not required that this person be a certified translator. Depending on the location, the procedures may vary slightly, and sometimes it is necessary to provide&nbsp;additional&nbsp;documents \u2014 for example, if one of the persons was previously married. In addition, all documents drawn up in a foreign language (such as birth certificates or certificates) must be translated into Polish by a sworn translator.&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important!<\/strong>&nbsp;If the person getting married&nbsp;doesn&#8217;t&nbsp;speak Polish fluently, a sworn translator may be&nbsp;required&nbsp;during the ceremony. You should arrange for their presence and notify the office well in advance. Furthermore, the marriage ceremony requires two adult witnesses, who must present valid identification\u2014an ID card or passport. If any of the witnesses&nbsp;don&#8217;t&nbsp;speak Polish, their presence must also be supported by a sworn translator.&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is important to remember that the wedding date can be set no earlier than one month after&nbsp;submitting&nbsp;the required documents and declarations to the civil registry office. This period may only be shortened in exceptional cases, with the consent of the head of the civil registry office.&nbsp;<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Additional&nbsp;information!<\/strong>&nbsp;Ukrainian citizens have the possibility to get married in Poland, for example at the consular section of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Poland, provided that both individuals are Ukrainian citizens. For two Ukrainian citizens, it is also possible to get married online via the Ukrainian application&nbsp;<strong>Diia<\/strong>.
