The key changes regarding the 500+ childcare benefit will be introduced on the basis of the amendment to the Act on state aid in raising children.
The novelty is that now this childcare benefit will be operated by the Social Insurance Institution. Moreover, applications for this benefit may be submitted by parents only electronically, and their payment will be made to the bank account indicated by them.
To make it easier for applicants to submit those applications, computers will be available in all ZUS buildings. Applicants may use them to fulfill the applications there, and if it’s necessary, they can be assisted by a ZUS employee.
The above-mentioned act will enter into force on January 1, 2022, therefore, from that date, ZUS will pay benefits (granted by itself).
Applications for subsequent periods, i.e. from June 1, 2022, will be accepted from February 1, 2022, while benefits awarded before the New Year will continue to be paid by municipalities until May 31, 2022.
