Amendments to the Act on the Pole’s Card

The current version of the Act provides that the Card may be issued to persons who on the day of submitting the application have citizenship of one of the following states: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan or a stateless person residing on the territory of that country.
The pending version of the Act removes the requirement of citizenship of the above-mentioned countries, and the amended provision is replaced by the following statement: the Pole’s Card may be issued to a person who does not have, on the day of submitting the application for the Pole’s Card and on the date of its granting, citizenship of the Republic of Poland or a person who has the status of a stateless person.
The whole legislative process can be followed on the website of the Government Legislation Centre (here) and the Sejm of the Republic of Poland (here).
