The Rule of Law Institute, in cooperation with UNHCR Poland and the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, has organised a course focusing on the topic of providing aid to refugees, titled “Refugee Protection & Assistance Framework”. The course took place between April and June 2023. The participants had the unique opportunity to meet with various representatives of UNHCR, gain knowledge about the role of this organisation in protection of refugees, and gain useful insight into how one may develop a career in an international organisation, as well as what are the possible obstacles on such a path. During each session, the participants took part in lively discussion and solved quizzes, which helped to assess and expand their previous knowledge.
The participans of the course used their skills in practice through volunteering at renowned institutions, e.g., UNHCR, International Rescue Committee, the Rule of Law Institute and thhe Polish Red Cross.
The climax of the three-month training was the distribution of “Refugee Protection & Assistance Framework” certificates on June 19, 2023, which took place during the debate “Academia in the Service of Refugee Inclusion” organised by UNHCR Poland, the Rule of Law Institute, and the Catholic University of Lublin.
