VAT on purchases on AliExpress, Amazon and eBay from July 1.

On July 1 the rules of taxation of purchases made abroad changed. According to the changes, purchases made abroad through AliExpress, Amazon or eBay, among others, will be subject to VAT. For more expensive shipments the consumer will pay additional customs duties.
This is due to the elimination of VAT exemption on imports in the EU. Under previous rules, imported goods from non-EU countries were exempt from import VAT if the package had a value of €22 or less. This exemption no longer exists. From 1 July 2021, all imported goods are taxed with VAT. Shipments with imported goods valued up to €150 are still exempt from import levies.
You will pay the customs fees to a mailman. The post office will offer the recipients of parcels a comprehensive service related to customs and tax clearance of goods, it will perform all the necessary actions – it will collect customs and tax duties on delivery of the parcel in the amount calculated by the National Tax Administration and the postal fee for making the customs declaration.
