Asylum, Migration, Integration

Defensores Peregrinorum PL

The “Defensores Peregrinorum PL” project was carried out from the 1st June – 30th November 2017 as part of the RITA – Transformations in the region program (competition “WIEM: Support – Integration, Education, Migration”), financed by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation.

During the “Defensores Peregrinorum PL” project, three lawyers and a coordinator provided project support and legal assistance to the project beneficiaries. Foreigners received legal assistance in 203 cases (153 refugees and 50 return cases) under the implemented project. Basically, they stayed in open centers for foreigners located in eastern Poland (Łuków, Bezwola, Biała Podlaska and Kolonia Horbów) or in detention centers for foreigners in Biała Podlaska and Przemyśl. Around 1200 legal advices were provided during the project period. About 700 legal advices were provided at the office of the Rule of Law Institute Foundation, including those that were provided by phone. On the other hand, approximately 500 legal advices were provided during 36 assignments in detention centers for foreigners. Provided legal advices concerned such cases as: preparing an appeal against a decision in the first instance, preparing a complaint against a decision in the second instance, preparing an application for release from the Detention Center for Foreigners, staying in the Detention Center for Foreigners, preparing an evidentiary application and presenting evidence, interrogation  status, mergers under the Dublin procedure.

The newsletters were prepared thanks to the support of the project “Defenseros Peregrinorum PL”. The newsletters promoted activities of the Rule of Law Institute Foundation. A short film was created to support the statutory activities of the Rule of Law Institute Foundation. You may watch them on dedicated web pages: pomagam.panstwoprawa.org and donate.panstwoprawa.org.

The project is co-financed by the Polish-American Freedom Foundation under the program RITA – Changes in the region (competition “WIEM: Support – Integration, Education, Migration) implemented by the Foundation Education for Democracy
