Since January 1, 2023, we have been implementing the project “Legal assistance to forcibly displaced persons in Poland” funded by UNHCR (Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees). Partners in the project are Helsińska Fundacja Praw Człowieka and Stowarzyszenie na Rzecz Integracji Społeczeństwa Wielokulturowego (Nomada), and the Stowarzyszenie Interwencji Prawnej (SIP) is the Leader.

The main activities of the project are:

• providing legal assistance to foreigners staying in the detention center for foreigners in Biała Podlaska,
• providing legal assistance to persons who want to start the refugee procedure, who are applying for international protection or are refugees, or for persons who are in detention centers for foreigners;
• providing legal assistance and information to foreigners staying in open reception centers in: Biała Podlaska, Bezwola and Łuków;
• conducting interventions in individual cases at border crossings with Belarus;
• providing legal assistance and information to people who fled the war in Ukraine in the Helpdesk formula in Lublin;
• providing legal assistance to people who fled the war in Ukraine or Ukrainian citizens who cannot return to their country of citizenship due to the war, during visits to collective accommodation points, on-call at the Community Center in Lublin and at the Foundation’s office.

The project will be realized in the period: 01.01.2023 – 31.12.2023
