Regional Digital Legal Aid Programme: Responding to the needs of Ukrainian refugees for legal aid in host countries and Ukraine

Since June 1st of this year, we have been implementing the “Regional Digital Legal Aid Programme: Responding to the needs of Ukrainian refugees for legal aid in host countries and Ukraine” project in collaboration with the DRC (Danish Refugee Council) Poland. The project aims to provide digital legal assistance to refugees.

The objectives of the project are as follows:

  1. To provide legal aid to Ukrainian refugees and third-country nationals in Poland (and other neighboring countries) by creating a virtual space where foreigners can access legal information in relevant languages and avail legal services in Ukraine and transit/destination countries.
  2. To ensure a coherent approach to legal analysis and disseminate information within the framework of cross-border legal assistance provided by the DRC.

During the project, a legal analysis will be conducted to comprehensively assess the legal framework in Poland and strengthen and standardize the knowledge base available to organizations assisting individuals fleeing from Ukraine. Specifically, 10 legal reviews on topics related to access to temporary protection and asylum in Poland will be prepared in Ukrainian, Polish, and English.

Additionally, 50 short questions and answers frequently asked by Ukrainian refugees will be prepared. All information will be published in Polish, Ukrainian, and English. The list of topics on legal issues and questions and answers will include, among others:

  • Permanent and temporary residence permits;
  • Economic activities and taxation;
  • Employment and service contracts;
